https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%98%BFQ%E6%AD%A3%E4%BC%9D

In recent weeks, “Zhao jia ren,” or “Zhao family,” from Lu Xun’s novella “The True Story of Ah Q,” has resurfaced as a disparaging term for China’s rich and politically well-connected.
 This is not the first time a phrase by Lu Xun, who died in 1936, has been revived to comment on contemporary events. After the 1989 military crackdown on student-led protests around Tiananmen Square, which left hundreds, possibly thousands, dead, many reached for the writer’s remarks on the 1926 shooting of student protesters by Beijing security forces: “Lies written in ink can never disguise facts written in blood.”
 In 1990, the Chinese writer Zha Jianying commented on Lu Xun: “The fact that he’s so relevant is very sad.”

Why did Saudi Arabia want this now? Because the kingdom is under pressure: Oil prices, on which the economy depends almost entirely, are plummeting; a thaw in Iranian-American relations threatens to diminish Riyadh’s special place in regional politics; the Saudi military is failing in its war in Yemen.
 In this context, a row with Iran is not a problem so much as an opportunity. The royals in Riyadh most likely believe that it will allow them to stop dissent at home, shore up support among the Sunni majority and bring regional allies to their side. In the short term, they may be right. But eventually, stoking sectarianism will only empower extremists and further destabilize an already explosive region.

McCarthy’s contempt for the truth was evident from his earliest days in public office. Yet countless Republicans thought he could be useful and, besides, he raged against the political correctness of his day. His defenders insisted he said what needed to be said. Never mind the exaggerations and the lies. He supposedly spoke a greater truth.
 Trump’s constituency, we are told, is primarily composed of white males who top out at a high-school diploma. But recently I’ve been talking to people who have advanced degrees, some of them female. They all, to a person, condemn him, but then the other shoe drops -- the one about you having to give him credit for assailing PC<(ポリティカル・コレクトネス)>.

Long before Mr. Trump came along, the supposedly immutable laws of politics had begun to fall. Mr. Trump is taking defiance in a nervy new direction. Now that congressional leaders, governors and Mr. Trump have shown the rules and customs of American politics to be hollow and unenforceable, we need a new set of tools to understand how democracy works, or doesn’t.

The 1993 Constitution strictly defines Russia as a secular state, in which no religion is the official or obligatory one. But many people in post-Soviet Russia yearn for ideological certainties to fill the void left by communism. And with the ascent of Vladimir Putin and Russia’s new order, the Russian Orthodox Church, an ancient institution that was nearly annihilated during seven decades of Soviet rule, is returning to a highly visible and central role in the life of the country.
 Furthermore, the line between sacred and secular appears increasingly blurred in Russia. Unlike in the West, where religion and politics occupy separate spheres, the Orthodox Church sees itself as the spiritual generator of public policy and the ideological bulwark of the state. Priests have become regular fixtures in the Army, schools, hospitals, and other public institutions.
 About 70 percent of Russians identify themselves as “Orthodox” -- though only a small fraction go to church regularly -- and polls show the church is one of the most highly respected institutions in the country.・・・
