http://www.huffingtonpost.jp/2014/08/31/china-hongkong_n_5745408.html?utm_hp_ref=japan

<太田>

The Kremlin is a very different seat of power from 10 Downing Street, the Elysee Palace or the Washington White House.
 The word Kremlin means "fortress".
For hundreds of years, that is exactly what it has been, with high walls, towers and a moat; besieged by foreign invaders, from the Polish army in the early 17th Century, to Napoleon 200 years later. ・・・
Whether these are phantom fears or grounded in reality, they are fuelling a siege mentality at the heart of Russian power - one which is dictating Kremlin policy on Ukraine and on the West. ・・・

・・・America, Kissinger argues persuasively, must play a leadership role to preserve world order – not as a moralising global policeman but as a hard-nosed great power acting in concert with allies, and sometimes with rivals, to maintain equilibrium and keep the threat of war within tolerable limits. ・・・what comes through clearly in this new book is a conviction that we, and President Obama, share: a belief in the indispensability of continued American leadership in service of a just and liberal order. ・・・
There really is no viable alternative. No other nation can bring together the necessary coalitions and provide the necessary capabilities to meet today’s complex global threats. But this leadership is not a birthright; it is a responsibility that must be assumed with determination and humility by each generation.

Political factions have often found it difficult to cooperate with each other or submit to the rule of law. At any given time, one or the other political party has been aided by the military intelligence apparatus, which plays a behind-the-scenes role. Political rivalry, like the kind now on display between Khan and Qadri and Sharif, has been cited throughout Pakistani history as a reason for military intervention. ・・・
The military has been developed at the cost of all other elements of national power, such as the economy, education, technological innovation, and institutional strength. The country's institutions, ranging from schools and universities to the judiciary, are in decline.
The Pakistani military and its political allies see civilian initiatives for peace with India as treason. The military also remains unwilling to revise its policy of employing Afghan proxies, like the Taliban and the Haqqani network.・・・
At the root of Pakistan's crisis is a refusal of all major actors to play by predetermined rules and in accordance with the constitution.・・・

The weeping willows slumber,Bowing low over the stream,
The current flows swiftly Whispering in the darkness of the night,
Whispering, still whispering in the darkness of the night~They bring on thoughts of times long past, with their humming.
Sick and lonely of heart,I long for those days gone by.
I long for those bright days gone by.
Where are you my beloved darling?
Do you even remember me,
Do you pine as I do,
And weep for me in the still of the night?
And weep for me likewise in the still ofthe night?

Autumn wind is moaning(注) D.Mihailov作曲 A.Pugachev作詞

All that which was, I loved with devotion,
All that in which I believed —
But alas, these caresses and words of endearment
Were nothing but phantoms.

Dreams ... So what in waking hours
Cold night without sleep
Burn in the sight of words assurances,
Happiness, Love without end.

All that has passed, I loved selflessly.
All my belief in your burning caresses,
Words of endearment
Were only daydreams.

Daydreams, like those spent
Durning cold sleepless nights
Burn once again with words of
Assurance, happiness and eternal love.
