http://www.chosunonline.com/site/data/html_dir/2013/07/10/2013071002490.html

<太田>

http://www.chosunonline.com/site/data/html_dir/2013/07/11/2013071100823.html

http://sankei.jp.msn.com/politics/news/130711/plc13071108000002-n1.htm

http://www.chosunonline.com/site/data/html_dir/2013/07/11/2013071100830.html

<太田>

West Valley Christian issued a prayer to express its condolences: “Dear Lord, give grace to their moms and dads, brothers and sisters. Give us wisdom and compassion as we care for our guests from China.”
 It charges only a modest amount of $4 to $5 a day per student for a visiting group to use their facilities. The hope, Swales explains, is that students will come away from their trip seeking more than just American Ivy League campuses and Silicon Valley careers. Students stay with host families who often introduce students to a Christian culture, Swales says, and that is how ministry happens. “We are trying to create a very holistic approach to education — come stay in our homes, come visit our schools, play on our sports teams,” he explains. “And there’s the spiritual component, which in China is not really there.”・・・
 It is a quiet way to spread the Christian Gospel. Swales’ family hosted a fifth-grader from South Korea. “We sit around the table and he sees us pray for the first time,” he says. “He comes with us to a church service.”

In every measure examined, including life expectancy and quality of life, Dr. Fineberg said, the U.S. ranking fell among the 34 members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, a think tank for developed countries.・・・
 The gap of 10.1 years between total life span and a healthy life span rose from 9.4 years in 1990, and the U.S. ranking for a healthy life span fell to 26th from 14th two decades ago.

 ・・・ the percentage of ambassador posts given to political appointees rather than career diplomats has remained roughly steady under Obama at around 30%, but most of these are in parts of the world unattractive to wealthy donors. The share taken by political appointees in western Europe and wealthier Asian capitals has reached between 70% and 85%, the AFSA estimates.・・・
 The Foreign Service Act of 1980, states that "contributions to political campaigns should not be a factor in the appointment of an individual as a chief of mission."

 ・・・since the military ousted President Mohamed Morsi, life has somehow gotten better for many people across Egypt: Gas lines have disappeared, power cuts have stopped and the police have returned to the street.
 The apparently miraculous end to the crippling energy shortages, and the re-emergence of the police, seems to show that the legions of personnel left in place after former President Hosni Mubarak was ousted in 2011 played a significant role — intentionally or not — in undermining the overall quality of life under the Islamist administration of Mr. Morsi.
By Wednesday, a total of $12 billion had flowed in from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

 ・・・the presidential system, inherited from the Mubarak era, virtually guarantees a repetition of the tragic events of the past year. A democratic breakthrough requires a more fundamental constitutional redesign, in which the contending sides compete for power in a European-style parliamentary system.
 The presidency is a winner-take-all office. This may be acceptable in countries like the United States, where well-organized parties contend for the prize. But it is a recipe for tyranny in places like Egypt, where Islamists have powerful organizational advantages in delivering the vote.
 Because their opponents will have great difficulties uniting behind a single candidate, Islamists could probably parlay their strong minority support into another presidential victory.

 ・・・fill in a questionnaire about jobs, health, family and attitudes towards growing older.
 ・・・those who had felt the most optimistic about growing older had lived, on average, around seven and a half years longer than those who were more pessimistic.
 Nuns・・・live in a closed community are a good group to study because they live in the same environment for most of their lives, eating the same foods and having similar experiences.・・・
 ・・・who expressed the most positive emotions about life when they were in their early 20s lived up to 10 years longer than those who expressed the least. ・・・
